V-Groove
A decorative pattern that is “grooved” into the glass using a special process, V-Groove is available in standard grid patterns and can be created using different types of grids, shadows and polishes.

Veneer
A thin sheet or layer of wood, usually rotary-cut, sliced or sawn from a log, bolt or flitch.

Veneered Construction
A stile or rail consisting of a core, two edge strips and two face veneers bonded together under pressure with adhesives.

A lite or cutout formed by a vertical bar extending from rail to rail of a sash or door.

Vinyl
A polyvinyl chloride material, vinyl can be both rigid or flexible. It is used in glazing channels and weathering of both windows and doors.

Virgin extrusion
This refers to original vinyl extrusions that do not have regrind added.

Visible latch indicator (VLI)
The visible latch indicator (VLI) is a feature on JELD-WEN vinyl windows with the WEN-Lock™. The VLI shows whether or not the window is locked and can be seen only from indoors.

Visible Transmittance (VT)
Visible transmittance (VT) describes how much available light comes through a window, and is expressed as a percentage. The higher the VT, the more daylight a product lets in. A good VT is about 55%.
