Overview

Oregon's first lighthouse was in dire need of repair. After 111 years, the harsh coastal environment had taken its toll on this historic building. JELD-WEN windows and doors were installed to bring back the original beauty of the building, incorporate the latest technology to withstand extreme conditions, help protect the outer layer of the building, and support one of America’s most “reliable” buildings.

Before

The existing front door of the lighthouse was warped and deteriorating from exposure to the elements. The door and the old aluminum, anodized bronze windows darkened the lighthouse and were not historically accurate. The original wood, arch-top window openings were filled in during the 1980s with replacement aluminum rectangular windows. To ensure this building would last another 100 years, the Umpqua River Lighthouse needed new windows and an entry door to seal the building securely and beautifully before the damage was irreparable.

After

The new exterior Custom Aurora^® fiberglass doors with JELD-WEN’s state-of-the-art technology are designed to withstand harsh coastal conditions, yet look and feel like original wood doors. JELD-WEN fiberglass doors require little maintenance and won’t expand or absorb moisture.

The new custom windows are stylistically similar to the originals, but include high-tech features such as AuraLast^® Wood, a revolutionary wood protection process developed by JELD-WEN that offers an industry leading 20-year warranty against wood rot, water saturation and termite infestation. The windows feature real wood simulated divided lites, which more accurately showcase the beauty of the historic architecture.
