JELD-WEN Acquires Seasonshield, Inc.
Klamath Falls, OR. December 10, 2004 — On December 1, 2004, JELD-WEN, inc. acquired Seasonshield, Inc., a Florida-based window and door manufacturer.
Seasonshield is a privately owned company that has manufacturing operations in Venice, FL and Gainesville, GA. The company's window and patio door lines are specially engineered and tested for the stringent codes in hurricane -prone regions such as Florida, Texas and the Carolinas.
"Seasonshield's product line helps fill out the existing JELD-WEN window offering for coastal code requirements," stated Patrick Hooper, JELD-WEN Product Marketing Manager. "With Seasonshield's outstanding line of vinyl and aluminum windows added to our already strong mix of hurricane-rated wood windows and entry doors, we are confident we can exceed the stringent window and door needs of the coastal market." JELD-WEN currently holds more than 75 coastal certifications for entry doors and has two wood window lines that qualify.
Seasonshield makes several products that are currently not manufactured by JELD-WEN: a vinyl window line with insulated, impact-resistant glass; an aluminum double-hung window with impact-resistant glass; and an aluminum horizontal roller with impact-resistant glass and two operating sash, which is unique to the industry. JELD-WEN will begin to re-brand Seasonshield products with the JELD-WEN label in the coming months.
"JELD-WEN anticipates significant growth for these operations and this may mean increased employment opportunities for local communities," stated Hooper. Bill Gill, who was President and Owner of Seasonshield, will continue to lead the two Seasonshield operations for JELD-WEN.
