A Floral Creation to Make at Home from JELD-WEN
September 06, 2005
This wreath is built on a commonly available plain base. Contrasting rustic reds and tapestry ribbon are designed to make the best use of the colorful JELD-WEN® Gladiator® Steel door it sits upon. The round wreath shape pleasingly contrasts with this popular six-panel door style.
Decor idea:
The decorative tapestry ribbon and gold-painted holly leaves and pinecones add a touch of glamour. The berry fruit and faux acorns add another layer of visual elements that makes the wreath complete.
About this door:
The Gladiator® steel door offers affordability and low maintenance for homeowners seeking a traditional entry door style with a number of options, like sidelights shown here.
How to make this holiday wreath
These materials are commonly available during the holidays at tree stands, floral shops and craft stores.
Materials:
Wreath base, available in widths from 12-24 in.
Wired ribbon with a tapestry design
Glitter berry fruit
Faux acorns
Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
Floral tape
20-gauge wire
Dresden-finish spray paint
Pinecones
Gold-dipped silk holly leaves
Directions:
Create a bow and streamers from the wired ribbon. Place it at the top of the wreath with streamers wrapping through and around the base on each side. Spray pinecones with Dresden-finish spray paint for a lacquered look. Affix berry fruit and pinecones to the base with hot glue. Use wire or floral tape to attach faux acorns and golden silk holly leaves. Create a sturdy hanging loop with floral wire.
