Kitchen Remodel Uncomplicated with JELD-WEN Interior Doors
Manufacturers offer simple, attractive solutions to help update kitchens

KLAMATH FALLS- Ore. April 28, 2007 — Kitchen renovations absorb the majority of remodeling budgets, and for good reason.  Even a minor kitchen remodel averages a 98.5 percent return, according to Building Products’ annual “Cost vs. Value” report.

Not all homeowners are willing to take on the hassle and expense of a major kitchen remodel, which can cost more than $80,000 on average, according to Realtor.com. Therefore, manufacturers are making it easier to add simple, high-quality touches that can provide an updated element to the kitchen. JELD-WEN, a leading manufacturer of reliable windows and doors, is touting its line of interior doors that can bring new life to a kitchen, even if no other changes are made.

“The average door is more than six feet tall and two and a half feet wide – in an average size kitchen, that consumes a lot of space,” said Shane Meisel, product marketing manager for JELD-WEN doors. “Homeowners are telling us they want simple changes that will help create a dramatic focal point. The latest options for doors offer a great way to do just that.”

Doors can also help call attention to today’s most appealing kitchen features, such as a walk-in pantry. Of 18 different kitchen features, respondents in a National Association of Home Builders’ survey “What 21st Century Homeowners Want” selected walk-in pantries as the top “must-have.” One of JELD-WEN’s most popular doors is an IWP® Interior wood door with cast glass, which allows light to flow through, but also helps hide pantry contents. With its beautiful wheat harvest design, this door doubles as a work of art, specially made for the kitchen. JELD-WEN also offers Premium Wood pantry doors with either cast or etched glass designs.

According to JELD-WEN, switching out kitchen doors can be a less intrusive process than other kitchen upgrades such as installing custom cabinetry, adding granite countertops or investing in all new appliances. Doors can also help create a grand entrance or a certain mood for the kitchen.

“The right door can make a big statement and set a tone for the entire room,” Meisel said. “There are many kinds of styles and options that can add the perfect touch to a kitchen, even if no other changes are made.”

For homeowners who are embarking on a complete kitchen remodel, Meisel suggests coordinating doors with the style of the kitchen cabinetry for a seamless, high quality look. From Craftsman to contemporary, JELD-WEN offers a variety of styles and customizable interior doors.
