Anodized Clad Finishes
Now Available from JELD-WEN
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Tough and beautiful, JELD-WEN’s Siteline EX Clad Wood window line now offers seven anodized finish options on its aluminum cladding. Anodizing provides superior durability, a distinctively beautiful appearance, and complements existing JELD-WEN products.
JELD-WEN Siteline EX Casement Windows with Clear Anodized Cladding
Anodizing is an environmentally low-impact electrochemical process. Anodizing uses the aluminum alloy itself to create a thin, tough and corrosion-resistant finish which extends the life of the product. The anodizing process also makes minimal use of such materials as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and heavy metals.
In the case of anodized aluminum, the color becomes part of the substrate and cannot peel, chip or flake, unlike applied finishes such as paint. Extremely durable, the hardness of an anodized finish is similar to the second hardest material known: a sapphire. The durability of anodized cladding is now available in seven new anodized exterior aluminum clad colors on Siteline EX windows and patio doors: Clear, Champagne, Light Bronze, Medium Bronze, Dark Bronze, Extra Dark Bronze and Black.
Not only is anodizing tough, it also is beautiful. A distinct yet subtle metallic quality comes through the color of an anodized finish. Far from glittery, the sheen of this finish is sophisticated and contemporary and is well suited for high-end projects.
Anodized style captures the interest of architects and homeowners precisely because it is different than painted cladding. Anodized aluminum provides a one-of-a-kind look due to subtle differences within the same color palette. The slightly non-uniform style of anodized metal also reflects light differently, changing appearance depending on the time of day. Unlike copper, which will oxidize and change over time, anodized color is very stable and will maintain its original hue. Customers also can mix and match anodized finishes with other cladding colors to help offset and highlight the beautiful metallic sheen that anodized cladding delivers.
At the 2013 International Builders Show, attendees can get a look at the Champagne anodized finish on a JELD-WEN Premium Sliding Patio door at the JELD-WEN booth #C6912.
